Hard-to-Reach Windows

not unreachable

Windows that are up high, such as split level windows, windows in cathedral ceilings or windows that are obstructed by furniture or other obstacles need special consideration when choosing a window treatment. Here are some ideas on finding the right window treatment for your hard to reach and high windows.

Blinds and shades for hard-to-reach windows

While a tall wall full of windows provides great views and plenty of light, you may also need privacy and protection from damaging UV rays and heat gain from direct sunlight. A window treatment should fill these needs while still fitting your style and decor.

things to consider:

Since these types of windows are not easily accessible, you'll need to determine how much light control you need, and whether you need variable light control. If you don't plan on raising or lowering your shades much, you can choose a cellular shade with the opacity that fits your needs and simply leave it down. Similarly, you can set the slats of a wood blind in an upward position, allowing in light but blocking direct sun and providing privacy.

For situations where you still want to open and close the blinds, a motorized option could be just what you're looking for. A remote control operates a motor inside the headrail to raise and lower a shade, or tilt the slats of a wood blind open and closed. The products in this section all have motorization options, or browse our Remote Control / Motorized section.
