4 Holiday Looks We Love

Posted by

With most of our shopping done, we are excited to finally relax and take in the sights and sounds of the season. It’s always entertaining to see some of the new trending decorating ideas that pop up year after year during the holidays and this year is no exception. As the decorative lights shine brightly and the familiar holiday music surrounds us, these are some of the creative holiday looks we are loving this year.

Ornament Swags

Traditional swags made of natural greenery are classic and beautiful hung from a balcony or down the handrail of a staircase. To jazz up this customary decoration, add bright and sparkly ornaments or just make the whole swag out of ornaments! We cannot get enough of this colorful, festive take on a decorative tradition that’s been used for centuries.

Merry Monograms

Monograms are all the rage these days with entire stores popping up dedicated to this method of personalizing everything from linens to pajamas to iPad cases. Adding a monogram to a wreath is a classy and chic way to personalize the symbol of the holidays on your hearth or front door.

Unique Color Combinations

Unique color combinations are another way to bring freshness to the holiday season. While we have many cherished ornaments, we tire of seeing some not-so-special ones year after year. Color combos like green with yellow, pink with turquoise, and gold with royal blue are strikingly festive and will no doubt make your tree stand out from the crowd of red and green. Don’t think about starting from scratch, just find a batch of inexpensive ornaments in a unique and inspiring color, then pick and choose from your current collection to coordinate and create a custom look to make your tree extra special this year.

Alternative Tree Bases

Those of us who celebrate Christmas all have a Christmas tree story. There’s the time the cat climbed up to the top to play with the shiniest ornament and nearly knocked the whole thing down, or the time we just dragged a potted tree (overgrown bush) inside, threw a red sheet around the base and called it a Christmas tree. Make this the year you used something other than the same old tree skirt. There are so many other options to cradle your tree, like large baskets, colorful tree pots, or our favorite, wine barrels.

Happy Holidays!
