Six Quick Declutter Ideas

Don't get frustrated by all of your to-do lists that never get done. Instead, commit to making small improvements each day. Here are six ideas to help the clutter disappear.

1. Pare Down The Pantry

Extra stuff = extra clutter. Even those bottles of spices get old after a year. To reduce pantry stuffing, when you restock with one thing, throw another thing away or plan to use the extra soon to preserve space.

2. The 10 Second Rule

Whenever anything can be put away within 10 seconds, do it right away. Prevent these small tasks from piling up into hours of scattered work and mess. Get the whole household in the habit!

3. Ban Some Books

Real books are a treat, but the piles can stack up quickly. We recommend saving a collection of your favorites, but force yourself to also keep a basket of finished books to either lend or donate.

4. Raise The View

The biggest shortcut to a clutter-free home is motorized shades. These shades are naturally cordless, removing excess clutter, and can be easily adjusted without having to struggle with your window coverings.

Most of our motorized shades can also be paired with an additional hub to easily connect to your smart home devices. Get total control with your phone, tablet, Google Home, or Alexa device, while at home or away.

5. Cherish Children’s Art

Curate your kid’s artwork. Always display current favorites in a special spot, but be sure to do a monthly sweep. Be mindful of the nostalgia of some of the more precious pieces. Take pictures before tossing!

6. Can The Containers

It's really not the containers, but the piles of mismatched lids. To avoid any frustration, face the problem head on. Start matching pairs and toss out any lids or containers that do not go together.

With so many important things to do in life, sorting out every day into tiny bits will help address the piles of clutter in your home. Use your extra saved time to do what matters most.
