For the whole truth on routed vs. routeless window coverings, let’s start with the basics. On most standard horizontal blinds, you’ll find holes on the sides of each slat where a lift cord passes through. Obviously, we refer to this style as routed, as the strings are guided, or routed, through each slat. While routed blinds have always been more common, upgrading to a routeless solution may provide additional benefits and help you get more out of your window treatments<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On a routeless blind, the lift cords pass around the outside of each slat instead of through them.\u00a0This will provide more privacy and a darker room when the slats are closed, as there won’t be any small holes for light to slip through. Unfortunately, it also means it is harder for the slats to stay perfectly in place, since there is no center cord running through each of them. We recommend choosing an inside mount with your routeless blinds to help keep them in place and avoiding them in homes with small pets or children. Weigh the pros and cons of each style and decide if routeless is right for you!<\/p>\n
