Bright days with luscious sun-filled vistas instantly give us that incredible feeling of lightness. Why does yellow revive our spirits, suffusing the spaces we inhabit with a cheerful glow of joy and exuberance? After all, yellow is the color of happiness, wisdom and imagination. Yellow was revered by the ancient Greeks who idolized the sun-god Helios. The Egyptians likewise honored yellow who used this color in their tomb paintings and Van Gogh splashed many canvases with this brash hue. His sunflower paintings are a universal homage to yellow. Van Gogh knew that yellow is the most luminous color which instantly captures our attention as the human eye processes this color first. Yellow energizes, relieves depression, inspires clarity of ideas, doling out an uplifting enthusiasm.<\/p>\n

With so much energy, yellow can be a tricky color to use in home design. Using yellow is a bit like the lemon itself- tart and bracing by itself, but sweet when used sparingly or softened with other flavors. Yellow does brighten a room, makes a room look larger and exudes freshness which incites activity and communication. In those places such as the kitchen, family room and dining room, yellow can add this dimension of openness and excitement.<\/p>\n

Yellow Reflects Light<\/h3>\n

Yellow works in home design as this luminous color does reflect light and instantly creates a more vivid room with an extra dollop of brilliance. So, for those of you who like to bask in the sun, yellow can simulate that effect.<\/p>\n

Adding depth is another unique quality that strengthens the drama in a room if you veer towards a strong decorative feeling. A sprightly painted yellow wall boldly imparts this vibe.<\/p>\n

Yellow Is A Complimentary Color<\/h3>\n

Believe it or not, yellow likes to hang out with other colors and elevates color combos. What is more classic than black, white and yellow? Other favorite colors are green and yellow, teal and yellow, and everyone’s favorite is gray and yellow.<\/p>\n

Yellow Window Treatments<\/h3>\n

To accent yellow in your home, window treatments, as a stand alone yellow decor design or as a compliment to other yellow themes, is a perfect way to bring in this brilliant hue. Choose either a solid or yellow patterned blind to claim yellow as the dominant color. Or pair and highlight with another favorite color to bring the yellow color scheme together.<\/p>\n

*Rub avocados with lemon juice to keep them from browning.
\n*Spritz a cotton ball with lemon juice to keep fridge fresh smelling.
\n*Keep microwave clean by boiling the juice of lemon with 1\/2 cup water for 3 minutes and wipe.
\n*Repair a too salty dish with a few drops of lemon juice.
\n*Strengthen your nails with a soak in lemon juice and olive oil.
\n*Get natural highlights by applying lemon juice to your hair and sit in sun til it dries.
\n*Remove food stains from hands with a mixture of cornmeal and lemon juice.
\n*Clean a chopping board with a 1\/2 lemon covered with coarse salt and rub clean.
\n*Get rid of weeds naturally with a spray of lemon juice, vinegar and boiling water.
\n*Brighten whites with 1\/4 cup of lemon juice along with your favorite detergent.
\n*Soak tired feet in a mix of lemon juice, buttermilk and olive oil for 15 minutes.
\n*Polish leather shoes with 1T lemon juice and 2T olive and let sit 10 minutes. Then buff.
\n*Freshen any drink by making lemon ice cubes by adding lemon juice to filled trays.<\/p>\n
