What Is The Difference Between A Single And Double Cellular Shade?

Cellular shades are best known for their energy efficient qualities that help keep your home cool during the hot summer months, while also keeping your home warm during the chilly winter season. The reason for their outstanding insulating properties is all in the honeycomb design of the fabric.

SHOP CELLULAR SHADES

Cellular shades are constructed of two layers of pleated fabric bonded together intermittently to form air pockets, also called cells. These air pockets trap either hot or cool air, creating a barrier to the varying temperatures coming through your window glass. Single cell cellular shades have only one layer of cells, while doubles have two. The more cells contained in the shade, the higher the insulating properties as more air is trapped in between the window and your home.

Double cell shades are the most popular option because of the combination of strong insulating properties, a wide range of color and fabric options, and the ability to accommodate most window sizes. Double cells outfit your window cleanly and crisply and practically disappear at the top of the window and seamlessly match any decor style.
