Who Am I?
The Traditionalist
If your had a lot of A’s, you are a traditionalist who likes subtle, calm colors, accented
with dark woods and comfortable furniture with clean lines. Your home
is uncluttered with a polished look that sings harmony. Tailored lines and classic
colors of navy and dark greens, accented with antique touches appeal to you. You
like a centered room where everything is ordered and pulled together with a cohesive
look, exuding your casual, understated vibe. Your window treatments might include
wood or faux wood blinds for their rich patina or formal draperies or you might opt
for roman shades for their crisp and sleek look. A neat and tidy room is your hallmark.
The Rustic Casual
For those of you B’s, you lean toward the distressed, country cabin look, coupled with
a touch of shabby chic and outdoorsy cottage style. Over-sized, welcoming furniture is
a signature for you with touches of whimsy and you may be attracted to flourishes of
ruffles, ribbons with a more scattered look with old trunks, big baskets and vintage
wicker. You love to collect things and display them in a haphazard manner with a
definite “lived in look.” Your window coverings might include shutters or a textured
woven wood shade. Casual drapery panels please you as you add a personal touch
with an old tree branch for a drapery rod. You have a bit of a gypsy spirit.
The Modernist
Bright colors and structure with sharp lines mark your décor style. You are unabashed
in using color in bold strokes, often against a white or neutral background, punching up
even more your love of color and shape. You like to have a lot of “white space” to define
the bare outlines of your rooms. “Less is more” is your mantra. You do not like excessive
decoration or ornamentation, but love the outsize shape of things. Your rooms often
seem bare and minimal as you prefer the large and the dramatic rather than a bunch of
things scattered around. Window treatments should be in plain colors to soften and warm
up your space and solar screens offer the ultimate contemporary look. The modernist
look couples the industrial, garage style look with a bright fun, retro flavor. You just
“wanna have fun!”
Don’t take any of this too seriously as we all have a mix and match decorating style which changes as the times twist and turn and we shift, modify and deepen our tastes. Just do what makes you happy.
