Zoo
We had a big summer led by kids’ explorations. The San Diego Zoo is world-renowned, but it was the last place on our family’s list that I expected to enjoy. The undeniable energy of just being amongst a gazillion (a.k.a. 12,000) worldly creatures and 700,000 plants collected together in 100 acres became craveable. I had a date with myself last week and took myself straight there. I even bought an annual pass.
Crystallized Citrus
A flight attendant offered me a packet of “lime” for my club soda. I now carry them with me at all times, using mostly the lemon one for tea, when there is no fresh citrus around. The comparison is remarkable (I don’t care for citrus pre-flavored beverages but somehow adding this tastes like a bright fresh squeeze). I’m secretly hoping for some bland salmon sushi to try it on next.

Jigsaw Puzzles
I enjoy them deeply. I say inside: for tomorrow, when all the things are solved. But last week I wasn’t getting all the things solved. I had a hunch that I needed a parallel universe to solve within. The mighty jigsaw puzzle proved fruitful. Just the right amount of a familiar old task of fitting cardboard pieces together to release my lizard brain and engage my subconscious. I didn’t consider all the things I needed to solve while I did the puzzle. I didn’t need to. My subconscious was already working on them for me.

“I’ve been working with Blindsgalore for nearly 12 years, and the professionalism continues to shine. They are easy to speak to, and I get a real person anytime I call. They are thoughtful in the process and provide good advice in deciding on window coverings. If anything’s wrong with the order they are arguably faster in getting that resolved than even an initial order. Well done!”
