While they won't provide complete privacy at night, solar shades are available in several screen openness factors, ranging from 3% to 14%, letting you choose exactly how much light you'd like to let through your windows. The smaller the number, the less "open" the sun shade is. For maximum view-through, choose a higher openness number. For greater light blocking, consider a smaller openness number.

"Beats the heat"

These shades are for a house in an association where the color of a window covering visible to the road has to be white. These shades fit that restriction and also gave me a choice for my inside color. I covered two windows and a patio door with these shades. These shades protect my furniture from the sun rays and are also a factor in ow warm it gets in the room. As far as measuring I just followed the directions on line, gave these measurements to the advisor, and they made adjustments as necessary.
